Pakistani batter Haider Ali scored his maiden century with the help of 18 boundaries in the LV Country Championship playing for Derbyshire on Monday (June 12).

The Pakistani batter gave life to Derbyshire’s struggling batting line-up as they had an early collapse. He came in to bat at 17/4 when Derbyshire were facing a deficit of 242 runs after the first innings.

Derbyshire were all out for just 111 runs in the first innings while Haider was removed for a duck. Matthew Fisher took five wickets while bowling for Yorkshire as he was the stand-out player for the bowling team.

Yorkshire registered 353 runs in reply to Derbyshire’s 111 in the first innings while batting. Pakistan’s Shan Masood scored 67 off 81 while England’s Dawid Malan scored 106 off 143 with the help of 16 fours and a six. Opener Adam Lyth also scored 48 crucial runs.

Mark Watt bagged five wickets for Derbyshire while both Luis Reece and Ben Aitchison took two wickets each.

Yorkshire ended day two with 248 runs for the loss of four wickets and are now leading by six runs.

Haider Ali (129) and Leus du Plooy (96) will resume batting for Yorkshire on the third day.

Earlier, Pakistani pacer Hassan Ali scored his back-to-back first-class half-centuries in the LV County Championship.

He got to his 50 off just 35 balls scoring a total of 54 runs off 36 balls in his last innings in the County Championship. That was his 7th half-century in First Class cricket.

He smashed 5 sixes in his half-century today becoming the only batsman in Division 1 of the County Championship to hit 10 sixes so far this season. He also took two wickets in five overs for 14 runs while bowling.
